Trees

Was messing about while I am waiting to file paperwork.  So I made up some trees.  The core of the trees are made up of fabric wrapped floral wire.  These were twisted following numerous tutorials.   Then I wrapped the wire pairs with floral tape and built up the trunk.  Once the trunk was bulked out, I used green stuff to make some broken branches.  I coated the trunk and branches with latex caulk and used a paint brush with stiff bristles to score the surface to make the bark.  When this set, I used green stuff to add some fungus.  Painted, flocked and foam added.   Hope you like.

Finished my costume for next year!

He started out as a plastic skeleton Halloween costume that I bought on sale after the holiday from Target.  I jazzed him up by adding the acrylic eyes, and heat shrinking strips of two 0.07mm plastic drop cloths onto the skeleton to create the flesh texture.  Then I used gel wood stain to paint the surface.  Once that had set I used black spray paint in all the holes to hide the old bone colors inside the torso and dusted the whole thing with white spray paint to give it that dusty look.  I followed a corpsing tutorial I found on YouTube.

The over the shoulder will be better with a black shirt to hide the straps.  I am also going to add a rotten death shroud made of stained cheese cloth.
Hope you like.

This is still a work in progress.  I will do a full writeup when I finish and get some better photos.  But the eye candy for now.

Just a quick update.

Just got back from visiting the family in the UK and I should be able to apply for my visa on 1 Feb 14.  I just have to get the paperwork together.  In the mean time I have been working on a couple of custom objective markers for Warmachine.  They were pretty straight forward so I am not going to go into real detail on the construction.  Just bits pinned down and arranged nicely.

Hope you like.

Pumpkins

Killing time time over here so I decided to be at least a little productive.  I  have always thought realistic crops on the field would be pretty neat.  I have been collecting ho scale corn stalks for a while, but will not be able to get to that project until I get to the UK.  One thing that I can make is pumpkins.  They are just a blob of putty that has creases down all sides.  Pretty straight forward.  I made about twenty over a couple of weeks.
Here are the masters.
And the mold using a cheap Allumite kit
 A couple of casts
I will be pinning each pumpkin to the base with the vine.
Then fold the vine over the top.
Bend in an appropriately odd shape.
 Using a wire bending pliers.
When they are together they will look the biz.
Once I get back to the UK I can punch some leaves with a paper leaf punch.  Right now I am just casting these so I have them available.   It will be a bit of a different surface for my rough terrain markers.   Hope you like.

Update on the "dynamic" vanguard and my crappy paint job.

Finished the paint and base.  I cannot claim prizes here.  My painting is not what it use to be and I am working with only a small portion of the tools/paint/lighting that I normally would.

The last photo is becasue I had many questions about the rake on the PP forums.
Hope you like.
