Bone wheel update.

Howdy.  So I am working on a couple of things.  Firstly the Bone wheel is base is going to be raised up about ¾ inch so I will need to build up a plinth.  I cut my second sheet of stacked skulls into strips and divided them into sections.  Once that was done I needed to bend them to fit around a base.  To do this I boiled water and put the pieces in individually.  Once they were warm enough to bend I put them onto a glass jar that is the right diameter and cooled them with the rounded shape. 

The next step will be to do the dividers and the actual base.  Have not started there as I have been working on another part of the project.  The six hanging skeletons. 

I decided to hang them on individual wheels so match the name of the scenario and the description.  I used 4 Ground laser cut wagon wheels as the base and some old Wargames Factory Skeletons.  Now picked up by Warlord games.  These are the old ones whose bones are too brittle to hold the weight of the model.  Not so good for troops but great for terrain.  They were glued into position on the wheels and twisted wire was tightly wrapped around the arms and legs to hang them in place. 

Then I used toilet paper and watered down wood glue to add clothing.  And now they will have to set for a while.   

Once set they will get a glaze of superglue to harden the clothing and bond all the pieces together in a solid part.

Frostgrave Bone Wheel.

I am getting together terrain to run a campaign for Frostgrave.  One scenario requires a bone wheel.  It is a circular wheel with bones at each end.  I have seen several others that looked spectacular on the table but I wanted to do something a bit different that could be used for other scenarios. 

I started with a template drafted out on paper.  Basically a series of circles with a central area that was subdivided into six sections where skulls will go and six dividers.  It allowed me to cut the different sections out to use as templates for the more complex parts. 

The bones were from the Green Stuff World  stacked skull plates.  They are resin sheets that can either be broken or cut to shape to use in basing.  The rock base will be made of Fomex.  I picked mine up at work in the form of a broken sign. 

I then cut my templates out and used 3m Spray Mount to attach the templates to the bottom of the skull plates.  Spray mount is usually used to mount photos and paper for framing. 

After a rough cut to separate the parts I then cut to the shape of the template. 

I used the same process for the dividers. 

Using a circular cutter I cut the outer ring and the inner circle. 

After checking the fit I scribed in the basic rock shapes.  Then used a rock to add the texture to all of the rock surfaces.

Finished tree of despair and some statues.

Finished up the tree with not Conan and also the living statues.  The living statues are magnetized so they can be removed and held in place.  All of these are reaper Bones from the bones 4 kickstarter.  Here are the photos.

I should have gone with dark metal with the oxidation but there you go.

Oils pretty much done

Here is the first batch of oils.  Green and tan.

Then a but of Burnt Umber to tone it down.

I will have to wait a few days for the oils to set then I can do a couple of touch ups, seal and base.

Manages to get some photos in good light.

With the clouds I did not think I would be able to get pictures today but I managed.

All ready for some oil paints.

Some Reaper Bones Projects

I have had this dragon stuck in the garage and finally decided to do it.  The Ma'al Drakar.  Taking my time.  I will do an oil wash on each of the colors to blend in some of the harshness.  

Painted with a mix of GW Privateer and craft paints. 
I also recieved this the other day as part of my bones 4 shipment.

 I ended up replacing the ropes with brass wire.  Drilled into his wrists and the knots on the ropes at the end. 

Then it was based up with sand and some GW skulls.

I have already slapped some paint on it but it is raining and the light is not particularly good so photos later.

Post Salute projects done

Here are a few things that I have burned through after Saute.

Micro art futuristic containers.  They still need an oil wash but are getting there.

Warbases forklift.  Upgraded with some card and a scratch built pallet.  Left it empty so I can add crate/barrel/pallet stacks.

Still need a drybrush to line them up with my existing bookcases.

 Mantic walls.  Terrain crate again. 

Rendera wattle fences.  Still have thirteen more to do but I was loosing the will to live with these.
